QTris and Quantum Mechanics: Seminar and Game Session at CNR-INO in Pozzuoli
February 17, 2025On February 11th, 2025 will be held the tenth International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
To mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, proclaimed by UNESCO, the ISASI, INO, and SPIN Institutes of the National Research Council (CNR) in Naples are organizing a special event as part of the third edition of Missione Fisica, a PCTO (Paths for Transversal Skills and Orientation) project aimed at students from high schools in the Campania region. The initiative, dedicated to promoting gender equality in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines, will be held on Tuesday, February 11th, at the CNR Research Area in Naples, Via Pietro Castellino 111, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Established in 2015 by the United Nations Organization, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science aims to recognize the fundamental role of women in scientific and technological research. UNESCO and UN-Women promote this day to foster equal access for women and girls to science, encouraging gender equality and overcoming stereotypes that hinder female participation in STEM fields.
The meeting will see the participation of institutional and scientific figures, including Councilor Valeria Fascione, with responsibility for Research, Innovation, and Start-ups, Giuseppina De Simone, President of the CNR Naples Research Area 1, and the directors and heads of the CNR-ISASI, CNR-SPIN, and CNR-INO institute locations.
During the morning, crucial topics such as gender issues in STEM disciplines, inclusive language, and the importance of changing perspective to overcome stereotypes and barriers will be addressed. Speakers will include researchers Antigone Marino (CNR-ISASI), Simona Mosca (CNR-INO), Alessandra Rocco (CNR-INO), and Simona De Luca (CNR-ISASI), who will offer insights into how to make the world of science more inclusive and accessible.
A central moment of the event will be the debate animated by students from the Giuseppe Mercalli Scientific High School in Naples and the Rita Levi Montalcini Higher Education Institute in Quarto, engaged in PCTO activities with the organizing institutes themselves.
The initiative aims to raise awareness among the new generations about the importance of female presence in the world of scientific research, offering an opportunity for discussion and growth for the young people of the future.
