EuPRAXIA-DN: Global Minds, Accelerating Tomorrow – A Film on the Future of Plasma Accelerators
January 19, 2024Two new quantum physics laboratories inaugurated in Trieste
January 29, 2024On 19 January 2024, the first event of the National Institute for Quantum Sciences and Technologies (NQSTI), financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) was held at the SISSA in Trieste (International School of Advanced Studies).
Quantum technology is opening up new perspectives in science and technology, leading to the creation of computers and processors with incredible performance. In his speech, Francesco Saverio Cataliotti explained how quantum technologies have already introduced a new technological standard for processors.
Italy, which has high expertise in quantitative technologies, is benefiting from funding of 215 million euros from the PNRR to further strengthen itself over the next three years. Of these funds, 115 million are coordinated by the National Institute for Quantum Sciences and Technologies, which will invest in research and development, start-ups and the communication of the potential and opportunities offered by quantum technology.
Alessandro Silva, a professor at SISSA, coordinates training activities dedicated to companies. In his opinion, quantum cybersecurity is inviolable and, as quantum physicists say, the first person who manages to hack it will win the Nobel Prize.
The quantum revolution has begun, and Italy aims to be a leader in this promising sector.
