Photonics for biomedical and cultural heritage diagnostics: a virtual course
May 4, 2022Dimensional Crossover in the Superfluid-Supersolid Quantum Phase Transition
May 19, 2022On May 27th, the National Institute of Optics in Florence will host the PhotonHub Demo Centre on Quantum Communication Applications. It will be focused on the perspectives of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), where the security of the communication relies on the fundamental properties of quantum states of light. While it has straightforward applications for the protection of sensitive data in the financial, governmental, and health fields, Quantum Communication can be seen in a broader perspective as a basic building block for the future quantum internet that will allow for fast and secure data transfer in smart and green cities.
The course is addressed to non-experts and experts, mainly producers oriented to produce/exploit novel photonics technologies for security and communication.
The course in presence is organized as hands-on training. It will be an opportunity to understand the basic concepts of Quantum Communication and Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and to experiment with some QKD applications.
