Abstract: In the recent years, opto-mechanics of micro-and nano-systems has emerged as a research field in strong development and particularly interesting both as a branch of quantum optics (concerning study of quantum correlations between radiation and mechanical systems, production of ‘squeezing’ and ‘entanglement’, quantum non-demolition measurements), and due its link to other fields of physics (study of macroscopic quantum systems and decoherence, quantum gravity tests, application to gravitational wave detectors, integration into quantum computing), as well as for possible applications (advanced sensors). The purpose of this project is strengthening the collaboration between the Italian groups aspiring to work in the field of quantum optomechanics, increasing their specific skills, creating the necessary synergies and interactions between groups with complementary expertise, providing the necessary tools for achieving objectives of excellence, putting together the necessary ‘critical mass’ for a successful participation to the calls of Horizon 2020.
