Abstract: We demonstrate the possibility of performing all optical switching in ultrashort photonic crystal couplers. The proposed structure exploits the AlGaAs Kerr nonlinearity to obtain an ultracompact power-controlled switch. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
