Abstract: We have measured the pressure-broadening and pressure-shift coefficients of several rotational transitions for 7LiH, 6LiH, and 7LiD in the presence of H2 or D, as perturbing gases, using a tunable far-infrared spectrometer. Experimental data have been collected in the 1.3- to 3.1-THz frequency interval and are in good agreement with theoretical predictions, based on a dipole-quadrupole interaction scheme. Calculated values are presented also for self-broadening and shift coefficients for 7LiH. These measurements, reporting for the first time pressure-broadening and shift parameters of lithium hydride, provide accurate tests of theoretical models for very light molecules.
