Abstract: To acquire information about the use of light intensity pattern of the sky in the sea-land orientation of the sandhopper Talitrus saltator (Amphipoda Talitridae) we carried out releases in a confined environment with sun at two different zenithal distance (39°, 5°), under clear sky and a Plexiglas dome. Results show that the light intensity pattern of the sky is one of the celestial orienting factors used by sandhoppers in their zonal recovery.
