Primary activity: experimental physics with focus on basic research of dilute quantum gases of fermions, specifically a) Fermi-Fermi mixture of Li6-Cr53 in the strongly interacting regime to investigate BEC-BCS crossover with mass imbalance, strongly repulsive (Stoner) Ferromagnetism, RF spectroscopy in the impurity (Polaron) limit, p-wave pairing and stable exotic (non-Evimovian) trimer and tetramer states. b) Generation of ground-state Li6-Cr53 paramagnetic molecules. c) development of the first quantum computer in Italy (HPC). d) development of new technologies (digital & analogue electronics, RF, FPGA based control systems, software & hardware).

Main experiences acquired: Basic experimental research on degenerate fermions (Li6, Cr53 and K40) and bosons (Cr52, K39), and Fermi-Fermi mixtures (Li6-K40 and Li6-Cr53). Design, setting up and development of new technologies for such experiments: analogue/digital/RF/low-noise electronics, FPGA hardware and software development, ultrahigh-vaccum systems, laser technologies, frequency doubling, optics, imaging technologies, measurement and analysis, control systems hardware and software, programming (C/C++, Java, Python, Verilog, Assembler, device-driver for Windows & Linux), Mathematica, Monte-Carlo simulation.

Research Groups:
Fermi-Fermi mixtures

Others Funded Projects in which he/she participates:
New generation of high sensitivity atom interferometers
Superfluid and normal phases of unequal mass fermions with two- and three-body resonant interactions
