The USA Patent protects a system for reconstructing the image of an object hidden by smoke and flames. The system consists of a lensless, off-axis digital holographic device employing a IR laser source. The object beam is enlarged and then irradiates the object. The reference beam is enlarged and then interferes with the radiation scattered by the object so as to create a hologram of the object. The system comprises an infrared detector to record the hologram and a processing unit to reconstruct numerically the image of the object. Differently from known thermographic techniques, the holographic system, working in a lensless configuration, allows to reconstruct the image of the object avoiding the sensor saturation due to the flame radiation.
