Spatiotemporal chaos in Rayleigh-Benard convection in an annulus

Abstract: The transition to spatiotemporal chaos in almost one dimensional convective patterns is studied. The chaotic regimes are characterized by analysing the statistics of local and global variables. It is shown that the transition for space time chaos has several properties of a phase transition and beyond the transition point the system displays thermodynamics properties.
