Abstract: The quantum equation of motion of the density operator in the Wigner representation is solved using a stochastic approach. Nuclear ground states and an asymmetric nucleus-nucleus collision below the Coulomb barrier are studied. Quantum effects are shown to cause significant differences in comparison to results obtained from the classical Vlasov equation.
