Unlike standard elastography methods, Brillouin spectroscopy provides the opportunity to optically characterize different elastic moduli without the need of contact and at high spatial resolution in 3D. In bio-related applications, the non-destructive mechanism is crucial to assess biological systems in-vivo, providing the opportunity to study the underlying biomechanical changes during the onset and progression of diseases.
