Uniquely, FORUM will measure top of atmosphere nadir radiances in the far-infrared part of the spectrum, covering a total spectral range of 100-1600 cm<sup>-1. <\/p>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fed.ino.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/toa-clear-cirrus-red-2axes-602x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"602\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-12294\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ino.cnr.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/toa-clear-cirrus-red-2axes-602x300.png 602w, https:\/\/www.ino.cnr.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/toa-clear-cirrus-red-2axes-768x383.png 768w, https:\/\/www.ino.cnr.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/toa-clear-cirrus-red-2axes-260x130.png 260w, https:\/\/www.ino.cnr.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/toa-clear-cirrus-red-2axes-50x25.png 50w, https:\/\/www.ino.cnr.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/toa-clear-cirrus-red-2axes-150x75.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width:767px) 480px, 602px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>FORUM will fly in close formation with Metop-SG allowing synergistic observations with IASI-NG, providing, for the first time, measurements of the full, radiatively important, outgoing longwave radiation spectrum. It is anticipated that the mission will provide an improved characterisation of atmospheric water vapour profiles, ice and mixed-phase clouds, surface emissivity, and the Earth Radiation Budget.<br \/>\nThe workshop will help the FORUM team to improve the scientific readiness of the mission.
